Synopsis
Turath & Today – Muamalat Essentials
Turath & Today: Muamalat Essentials is a one-year hybrid course designed to bridge classical Islamic finance with modern financial realities. Led by Ustaz Aminuddin Abu Bakar, an industry practitioner with expertise in both Shariah and conventional finance, this course offers a structured approach to understanding Muamalat (Islamic financial transactions) from traditional texts while applying them to contemporary issues.
This course covers classical financial principles from authoritative texts such as Matn Ghoyah and explores topics like trade (بيع), usury (ربا), debt transfer (حوالة), partnerships (شركة), agency (وكالة), and estate planning (وقف). Beyond the theory, it includes guest lectures on practical applications, covering Zakat, Takaful, Investments, AI in Finance, Wealth Management, and Estate Planning.
Students will have the opportunity to:
✅ Study key classical texts with translations provided.
✅ Analyze contemporary financial systems through a Shariah lens.
✅ Engage with guest speakers from various industries.
✅ Work on real-world projects to apply their learning.
The course is structured for weekly Monday classes and offers hybrid learning—allowing both physical and online participation. While many students opt for virtual attendance, discussions are ongoing regarding a one-day-per-month physical attendance for interactive sessions.
With a Learning Management System (LMS) for recorded sessions and a WhatsApp group for class discussions, participants will have continuous access to resources and peer collaboration.
This course is ideal for students, professionals, and institutions looking to deepen their knowledge of Islamic finance and integrate it into their personal or professional lives.
